Western Watersheds Project Montana Office

WWP Montana was established in September of 2008, and has begun working collaboratively with local grassroots activists on campaigns to protect wildlife endangered by conflicts with cattle, to eliminate grazing impacts from key landscapes, and to reform BLM practices in Montana. Areas of emphasis include providing litigation and public relations support to Buffalo Field Campaign in their continuing effort to end the slaughter of America's last wild herd of genetically pure bison, working with outfitters to rid the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument of the blighted landscapes associated with historic grazing, and working with a retired Forest Service hydrologist in Dillon to reform the BLM's errant ways in and around the Pioneer and Blacktail Mountains, Big Hole River, and the Beaverhead Watershed. WWP Montana has big plans befitting Big Sky country, and looks forward to the day when Buffalo are free to roam along the frontrange of the Northern Rockies, along with Pronghorn Antelope, Bighorn Sheep, Elk, Mule Deer, Sage Grouse, and Wolves in what we envision as the American Serengetti.
